Wow, over a week since I’ve posted…sigh.\u00c2\u00a0 What can I say?\u00c2\u00a0 I’ve been distracted by everything going on in my life.\u00c2\u00a0 There’s not much down time in this house as of late.\u00c2\u00a0 It won’t be like this forever so please hang with me until life returns to normal.\u00c2\u00a0 A HUGE chuck of my time goes into studying…everyday.\u00c2\u00a0 I haven’t worked in weeks.\u00c2\u00a0 I’d be happy about this, but I’m also not getting paid.\u00c2\u00a0 However, I need the time to devote to making sure that I can be a teacher next year (assuming I get hired).\u00c2\u00a0 I can’t get hired if I’m not certified (well, I could but let’s not put all our hopes on that avenue).\u00c2\u00a0 To sum it up: the name of the game is tests – study, take, and pass!\u00c2\u00a0 Studying pretty much sums up all of last week as far as daytime goes.<\/p>\n
As far as nighttime goes, it was all about TKD as I was preparing hard for the 2009 Spring Regional Championships that were held on Saturday.\u00c2\u00a0 I was working hard to get my form down as well as get in any point sparring practice.\u00c2\u00a0 There was a seminar that was held on Thursday night at the school run by a 7th degree senior master.\u00c2\u00a0 I wasn’t impressed with this seminar.\u00c2\u00a0 In fact, I was quite disappointed.\u00c2\u00a0 It started out well, but then quickly moved into sparring which would’ve been great had it not all been geared toward point sparring.\u00c2\u00a0 Point sparring, in my opinion, is not one of the things I need to be successful at in martial arts.\u00c2\u00a0 Sure, it’s great to be great at it, but it’s not the reason I come to class every night.\u00c2\u00a0 Oh well, any practice is good practice.<\/p>\n
Friday night I didn’t go to Ryon’s conditioning class.\u00c2\u00a0 I hope no one thinks that I was scared off because that isn’t true.\u00c2\u00a0 I just needed to be able to move on Saturday for the competition.\u00c2\u00a0 Instead I drove down to the south school in rush hour traffic to catch upper belt (4th degree and higher) testing.\u00c2\u00a0 It was pretty cool to watch especially the board breaking which always impresses me.\u00c2\u00a0 I can’t believe I only have a few a couple of testings left without breaking boards.\u00c2\u00a0 That scares me so much!<\/p>\n
Saturday we were up and at the tournament pretty early.\u00c2\u00a0 I was competing against brown-senior red belts (women only).\u00c2\u00a0 First up was forms which I did make a stupid mistake on, but the judges didn’t catch it….whew.\u00c2\u00a0 I won first place in forms which was awesome because for the first time in my martial arts career I wasn’t nervous.\u00c2\u00a0 I was a little nervous, but not like last year when I was so nervous I was shaking and bombed my form.\u00c2\u00a0 I was also extremely nervous at the Kung Fu tournament.\u00c2\u00a0 This was a huge step for me and my happiest moment of the day.\u00c2\u00a0 But I wasn’t finished.\u00c2\u00a0 I went on to sweep the sparring tournament also.\u00c2\u00a0 Bryan was there taking pictures and videos.<\/p>\n
